The Catholic Studio is an online Catholic art boutique based in Maryland. Our products are handmade in Nicaragua by talented women from low-income communities. Every piece is unique and made with dedication, passion and love.
Our Mission
Our mission is to evangelize through our products and support low income communities to overcome poverty in Leon, Nicaragua while providing employment. We train and mentor low income artisans, from carving to painting. Our artisans build the skills to hand and spread God’s message. At the core of our work are the Lord and his constant invitation to rest in Him with prayer.
Our Story
In October of 1997, Lucia founded Arte D’ Lucia a Catholic Boutique in Leon, Nicaragua. As a hobby, she began to illustrate images in honor prayer. The start was a limited selection of pieces crafted and painted by hand.
Quickly, the need for such items became clear. People sought these pieces for everyday use and gifting on special occasions.
Much like the Lord’s plan, a personal project to honor the Lord took its own turn. My mother, Lucia soon introduced this to the public as an artisanal boutique.
In 2022 The Catholic Studio was founded in Maryland as an online store by Ana-Lucia. The Catholic Studio was formed to bring our products to the North American market. Today, we are excited to continue evangelizing beyond the Nicaraguan border. Each piece is made with the hope that they will comfort its steward.
